Re: Halcott Community Garden sends Thanks to all of our friends and supporters

PS  Special Thanks goes out to our most trusted Communications expert Lorraine Marsh (Head of Hollerback in the Community Garden and Website Administrator for the Town of Halcott )
She expertly advertised our plant sale in the region and as we all know, has stepped up to fill the town vacancy left by Greg Beechler. Thank you Lorraine & Greg for all of your dedication and
excellent work for both the garden and the town !

Summer Greetings to friends and supporters of the Halcott Community Garden !

A brief missive to say thank you for all of the support you have all given over the last 16 years to launch and support our amazing community garden. We would not be here without all of you.

The Plant Sale on May 30-31 was a surprising success given the dismal start to Saturday with rain, wind and temps just rising above freezing- Yuck!
Nemo Hill once again led the pack with the most seedling contributions followed by Alex Brock, Susan Herzog and Pattie Kelder who generously donated potted perennials dug from her yard. There was also a mystery donation of a rubber plant that somehow managed to survive the cold and find a home thanks to care from Julie Johnson who also brought her dandelion salve to sell and helped man the tables. Despite the weather, there was a steady stream of you stalwart supporters who perused in the on and off again rain.

As always, the community came together to support the garden and share their appreciation for the awesome place we share here in Halcott. Nemo & Julio's tireless work on the perennial gardens and grass areas made the garden shine. A special callout to Willy Baer as well for his endless help to set up, meet and greet, cart seedlings, build beds
and ensure crabby, tired hands got necessary morning coffee and didnot escape back under slumbering cover.

The sale grossed close to $1300.00 and will allow us to purchase a much needed transfer water pump to fill our rain barrels when they run dry, purchase a new flat free wheelbarrow and supplies for the final run of new fencing on the western side of the garden. We are now planning to add more standing raised beds on the eastern side for next season as they are proving to be a real hit.

At present we have a total of (21) active gardeners with room to grow, so please consider joining us and spread the word, The Halcott Community Garden is open to all.
