Community supported agriculture takes root in the Garden

The Halcott Community Garden celebrated the first year of our venture into CSA.
Garden members received a "dividend" for time put in on communal crops and other planting projects in the garden; a 1/4 bushel basket of potatoes, onions, shallots, garlic and pumpkins. The "value added" beauty product seen here is an oil infusion of the St. Johns Wort flower, harvested from the garden and prepared by Karen Rauter & her Mom, Louise., for use as a topical skin ointment.

We also made our first contribution of a basket of produce to the local food pantry in Margaretville and are aiming to make this an annual event.

Join us for season 2015, either as a gardening member,"friend" of the garden or "patron"
As we continue to increase the yield on the communal crops,we will be offering shares of the harvest to non gardening members who make a monetary contribution and want to enjoy the unrivaled satisfaction of eating fresh food grown in the soil of our beloved valley.

Happy Holidays and stay tuned for details of our Midwinter Musical fundraiser... coming soon!!
