Late Summer at the Garden

After digging posts it's important to stop for a beer. In photo: Alex Brock, Willy Baer, Kurt Reynertson

Beautiful cabbage in Maritza & Margarita's plot.

Post digging made easy with a post digger as demonstrated by Kurt Reynertson

Willy Baer lines up the row of posts by the scientific method of eye-balling it.

Alex & Willy's plot produced some beautiful (& delicious!) yellow cherry tomatoes!

My giant sunflowers feeling the weight of gravity after months of defying it!

The fence posts are in after a tremendous effort by the mighty Halcott gardeners!

Delaware-Green Eat Well Play Hard Community Project Grant

Many thanks to Claire Homitzky of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Greene County. Back from maternity leave, Claire has hit the deck running and as a result HCG will be the recipient of 2 new garden gates from the Critterfence Co. paid for with grant funding for the Delaware-Greene Eat Well Play Hard Community Project. This will allow us to complete our enclosure of the garden before the snow flies and be ready for the critters next season. Stay tuned for a final fall cleanup and work day to complete our fencing project in late October. We will ask all members to attend and ready their beds for Spring. Also, save the date for our first Annual Halcott Community Garden Feast on Saturday October 9th at 4pm at the Grange.
Please bring a dish to pass ideally featuring some of your seasons finest produce plus beverages of your choice. Jim Rauter & friends will provide after dinner musical entertainment. We will be asking for a $5.00 suggested donation to stock the coffers for a delivery of compost next Spring , so please spread the word and encourage friends and neighbors to attend!
